Jackie Collins writes trash and she knows how to write well. Poor Little Bitch Girl is a deliciously saucy, light read. I couldn't put it down, it was one of the most enjoyable books I've read this year. Not the most original or mind-blowing, either though. The novel's murder mystery was dull and its resolution seemed more like an afterthought.
The Poor Little Bitch Girl from the title refers to Annabelle, a Hollywood star couple's daughter who works as a New York madam and prostitute. The story is told as chapters from the eyes of Annabelle and three other characters - Denver, one of Annabelle's old high school friends turned high powered LA lawyer, Bobby - Annabelle's friend and son to Lucky Santangelo and finally Carolyn, a really whiny, stupid character who is pregnant to a senator.
Jackie's works have always been guilty pleasures. Poor Little Bitch Girl is no exception. I recommend reading this on the daily commute to work and watch yourself WISH that your stop isn't coming up!
