New Girl, Pan Am, Revenge Pilot Reviews

So this weekend I was able to catch up on brand new TV shows from America. America! Oohhoohh. They were:

  • New Girl, a comedy to air on Ten
  • Pan Am, a drama set to air on Nine.
  • Revenge, a soap opera for Seven.
By far, the most enjoyable show of the lot was New Girl. In fact, I watched all three episodes of it! It's really funny. Starring Zooey Deschanel (500 Days of Summer), it's about a quirky woman who moves in with three hot guys. I know right...that bitch! There's another character in the show to round up the cast - it's her best friend who's supposed to be a model. Problem is, she's hella annoying and has an unfortunate fringe hairstyle. The producers should dump her and have Mary Elizabeth Ellis (aka the waitress off It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia) full time instead. She plays the ex-girlfriend of the cutest guy on the show, Nick (Jake Johnson).

Then we have Pan Am - the much-hyped drama series set in the 1960s. Talk about style over substance! This Mad Men-wannabe was so boring, I don't think I'll bother watching any more episodes. The writing is so weak that the producers have had to introduce a ridiculous plot of having the flight attendants acting as spies - in an obvious to make the show more interesting.

However, I really liked Margot Robbie (Donna from Neighbours). Let's hope Pan Am is axed quickly so she can move on to bigger projects!

Finally, there's Revenge. It's a pretty stock-standard serialised drama. Lots of pretty people and bitchy glamorous women. It's a recipe perfect for my TV appetite! Emily VanCamp (Rebecca from Brothers and Sisters) continues to play the mousy type in this show, but she shows a little mischievous as a scheming young woman avenging her scorned father in The Hamptons. I will keep watching it even though it's pretty stupid. Like, the show treats its main antagonist Victoria Grayson as if she's the president of the United States. As if one woman can have that power over one town.
